I created a sustainable e-commerce platform, focusing on accessible, ethical, and environmental principles. I focused on the design of the product page. My aim was to blend sustainability with a seamless, inclusive shopping experience, emphasizing the brand's commitment to ethical practices in fashion. Detailed product information, including materials, sustainable badges, and ethical production methods, was included in the design to be transparent and encourage informed consumer choices.
Inclusivity:
A significant focus was placed on inclusivity, ensuring that product images and descriptions catered to diverse body types, abilities, and backgrounds. I included model characteristics with a clear disclaimer to help customers visualize how products might fit different bodies, promoting body positivity and a more inclusive shopping environment. Additionally, I expanded size diversity and offered customization options for people with non-standard body types, ensuring everyone could enjoy our products.
Navigation:
I designed the navigation with accessibility in mind. I incorporated search functionality that also supports voice commands. The entire website could be navigated using keyboard commands, making it accessible to a wide audience.
Sustainability:
I spotlighted the use of sustainable materials and practices like recyclable packaging and carbon-neutral shipping, aiming to reduce environmental impact.
Accessibility:
Following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), I ensured the site was navigable for people with disabilities, incorporating features like alt text for images and high-contrast text and great color contrast.
Ethical Practices:
I emphasized transparency in ethical sourcing and fair labor practices. Pages like “Our Story” were introduced to connect consumers with the human stories behind their purchases, fostering a sense of community and ethical responsibility.
LINKS:
I made conscious efforts to design against dark patterns. This meant ensuring that user choices were respected without misleading prompts or hidden subscriptions. Transparency in pricing, various payment options, return policy, and straightforward navigation were key elements. By doing so, I aimed to build trust and foster a positive relationship with users, countering the manipulative tactics that erode user confidence and integrity in e-commerce.
